Answers to common questions about MSPNG, membership, and the Annual Medical Symposium
MSPNG is a professional society registered under the Societies Act 1962, comprising health care workers in Papua New Guinea and overseas — including medical officers, dental officers, medical researchers and scientists, pharmacists, and allied health workers. It promotes professional and ethical standards of health care in Papua New Guinea and advises Public Hospital Boards, Provincial Health Administrations, and government on health practice matters.
Any health care worker from a recognised health-related institution, in Papua New Guinea or overseas, can join MSPNG. This includes medical officers, dental officers, medical researchers and scientists, pharmacists, and allied health workers.
The 60th Annual Medical Symposium runs from August 30 to September 4, 2026 — spanning the last days of August into the first week of September.
The 2026 Symposium is hosted by the Morobe Provincial Health Authority in Lae, Morobe Province, at the PNG University of Technology. This year's theme is "Provincial Health Authorities (PHAs) Establishment Review: Past, Present and Future."
Registration is K700 per person. Payment can be made via online credit card, direct bank transfer, or cheque into the Medical Society of Papua New Guinea Symposium Account. Bank transfer and cheque payments require the payment receipt to be attached during registration.
Abstracts (including authors and keywords) must be no more than 300 words, submitted in MS Word to abstracts@mspng.org.pg. The scientific committee reviews all submissions and notifies authors of acceptance after the submission deadline closes.
